212ex<22-\frac{1}{2}e^x<2

If you subtract a positive number from 2 you get a number that is less than 2.

but is it not the range of f(x) and is the range of f(x) not y is any real number?

I may have answered the wrong part of the question. Sorry for any confusion caused.

f(x)=ln(42x)f(x)=\ln(4-2x) Domain x<2, range f(x)Rf(x) \in R

f1(x)=212exf^{-1}(x)=2-\frac{1}{2}e^x Domain xRx \in R, range f(x)<2.

ahh okay all cleared up now, thanks!
