Modular Exams or all at the End of the Year?

Beginning September 2013, A Level January exams will be scrapped according to Ofqual. I was wondering how people felt about sitting modular exams throughout the year ? In my final GCSE exam season I'm glad not to have all my exams now but teachers have complained about missing hours of lesson time due to people sitting exams and the amount of resits people are having is ridiculous! I was wondering what people's thoughts are? By the way, the petition FOR January exams is here, if you want to sign it! http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/41702

I think that the removal of January exams is a good idea
I think the removal of Year 12 exams is a concern

I think I prefer modular exams because it means I get to learn each unit thoroughly, take an exam, get it out the way and focus on new material. However, I could and will have to manage without January exams, which just means I'll need to improve my time management skills and somehow prevent myself from forgetting material 10 months down the line or something.
