DSA application

So I'm a late comer to the DSA process not knowing of its existence until a few weeks ago. I suspended my studies and depending on whether uni fix a c**k up or not I will either be returning in October or April next year. If it's April, all fine and dandy, loads of time to get DSA sorted. If it's October I'll be waiting a while for everything to be in place.

Anyhoo, I've changed my online finance to reflect my suspension allowing me the special support grant and ticked the box to apply for DSA. I've not received the DSA form to send back yet though and I'm wondering if I should just download and fill in the long version to expedite matters given how late in the day my application is?

I also suspended my studies last term and I returned last week. Jw did u have any problems with student finance and paying back grants? I had a sickline from OCT 12 - May 13 then i officialised my suspension in may. SFNI have taken £1104 of my yearly payments. My housemate suspended at the same time as me and she had the same problem, however student finance england resolved this for her student finance ni doesnt seem to want to help me at all! You have any of these same experiences?

BTW, i also applied for DSA for the first time, I filled out the long form, it wasnt that difficult, just make sure when you are handing your application in to have as detailed evidence of your disability as possible to speed everything up. I got all my evidence in first week of sept and had my confirmation letter 26th sept, and I now have my needs assessment on Monday to discover what all I am eligible for. So to be honest its moved a lot quicker than i expected, whether or not the actual payment comes in quickly enough is another question.
