Westminster Accommodation Worries

Evening all,

Let me get straight to the point: do you have to pay anything upfront in terms of rent before you arrive at Westminster and approximately how much does this payment amount to if so (a question more aimed at those who have already paid)? Can advanced payments be pushed back or is it the case where if you don't pay beforehand, you don't get a room? It's something which has been bugging me for a while now; such a stupid policy! It's surely only going to serve to put off prospective students, especially those who can't bloody afford a £500+ bill even before they arrive! Not well thought out at all...
