My teacher held a revision session on Friday and she showed us some of the previous year 13's exam papers (she always buys the papers for that get A* s).

Looking at the that, the examiners seem to mark quite nicely! Like a girl from last year got an a* when really, her subject knowledge and historical debate were really weak!

Another question that hasn't come up that could is the political extremism (ie. the BUF, CPGB). I'm really hoping it won't come up.

No that's a topic I can actually weirdly remember? I had to that essay 3 times (my teachers a bit anal but the class really bad and we had to keep doing till everyone had A's and B's)

You'd do have a judgement that national government itself was the main factor way political extremism didn't spread.

Paragraph 1- policies of the national govt
So things like the incitement to disaffection act and how the police had greater powers!

Paragraph 2- failures of Buf and Cpgb
So how Buf had Mosley who was really impatient and controversial as well being anti Semitic! The fact how Cpgn had no charismatic leader ect

Paragraph 3 - economic stability
How the national government kept stability so you could talk about the special areas act 1934 and benefits of 1932 set up a board to standardise payments and introduced means testing! These polices ensured people had a normal standard of living unlike in Germany whereby people had to turn to extremism as the govt failed to implement policies like the national govt.

Hope this helps, it's just at the top of my head.

Does anyone else think a question on Labour may come up? About their successes or how well they achieved socialism or something like that, something about the welfare state may too because I feel like theres been alot of liberal and conservative questions but no Labour?

Yes this is exactly what I was thinking! Maybe something on welfare state or nationalisation.

Oooh how awesome would it be if something like 'The NHS was the single greatest achievement of the Atlee administration 1945-51' Assess the validity of this view?

And then you could mention the NHS and nationalisation, housing and the other policies they introduced to establish the welfare state.

Do you think Baldwin's government or General strike could come up this year?

I honestly don't think so, but you should be prepared for them just in case.

I feel like something about Macmillan's government may come up, and maybe the National government?

I feel like because the General strike and the hungry 30s have come up, that for a depth question the Abdication crisis or the application to join the EEC may come up.

Anyone done any essays on those two?

I don't think that abdication crisis going to come up. Its a little bit too small topic, but you never know. Maybe something random as changes to the role of women and to social and cultural values as a result of war can come up.

Oh yeah probably is too small, I was just thinking about that part on the spec where its like 'The Abdication crisis and its impact' as its own little section

\oh I think i'd ignore a question on Leisure or Women's role bc that would be way too mean for it to come up suddenly when its never came up before, I wouldn't have a clue what to write about bc I haven't got the resources to prepare for a question on those two topics even if I wanted to.

If it does come up I hope that the other two questions are good ones.

Abdication definitely not going to come up on this own but something like ' How successful Baldwin was dealing with domestic problems such as Abdication Crisis/General strike' may come up but I genuinely hope it won come up

By the day do you have any practice exam questions?

How would you answer a question like this:

''The main cause of Chamberlain's resignation in 1940 was the loss of Labour's support''. Assess the validity of this view.

Ooh I've never thought of a question like that.

I guess you could include points like:

Failure to transition from a peacetime economy to a wartime economy?

Failings in leadership? Uninspiring and dull -seen as a man of peace so no one had confidence in him that he'd wage war a 100%

Failed foreign policy e.g. didn't make an alliance with the Soviet Union in 1939 and failed attempts in protecting Norway , undermining his leadership further.

There was also unpopularity for Chamberlain amidst Liberals, they contributed to the no confidence vote

And loss of Labour support, refused to work under him due to his failings
