According to Labour MP Mike Gapes, these UKIP campaign posters are racist. Do you agree?

It's not necessarily racist but it's xenophobic and plays on people's tribalistic nature. It's also a lie that 75% of our laws are passed in Brussels. You can tell there's something wrong with the UKIP scaremongering by the fact we're not swimming in Bulgarians and Romanians like they seemed to think we were going to be...

A giant finger with the threat of 'they're going to take your job!' feels pretty fear-inducing to me.

The fear of losing your job is different to the fear of a foreigner being near you.
Just watched an interview of Farage being attacked for employing his German wife as his secreter by the reporter. God dam Farage employing those foreigners!

Without even trying to find out what MP it is I'm going to say Labour or Lib dem.

If you disagree with me you are some form of ist. (Racist, fascist, sexist etc etc)

To expect the British government to put the interests of the British people first is now xenophobic?

Do you actually have figures as to how many Bulgarians and Romanians have entered the country since January 01st or are you just making things up? After all, their numbers "officially" increased by 42% in 2013, it would be strange if that trend did not continue.

Also, EU commissioner Viviane Reding states explicitly that 75% of UK laws are made in Brussels, wouldn't she be expected to know? http://www.ukip.org/the_truth_is_out_at_least_75_of_our_laws_are_made_by_eu_institutions_says_senior_european_commissioner_viviane_reding

Nice strawman.

No-one has figures since January the 1st. The ONS are going to release them next month. We can have this debate then if you like.

The UKIP website - nice reliable, unbiased source . That quote is taken out of context. This is actually the percentage of EU laws (not our laws) that the European Parliament (elected representatives of each EU country) and the European Council (representatives of the governments of each EU country) have had an equal say on. The rest are either decided solely by the Council, or with Parliament giving the Council consent to them being passed. In other words, it’s the percentage of EU law that the politicians we elect to the European Parliament have as much say on as our national government.

Also, what about other sources? The uk parliamentary website says between 1997 and 2009 less than 7% of primary legislation came from Brussels.
Let's say this 75% lie is true (which it isn't). What does that matter anyway? What matters is what the laws are. Most of the laws that the EU put forward are just regulations on corporations - enforcing worker's rights, environmental regulations and safety regulations of products.

Please do some proper research next time. It's the reason everyone in this country with half a brain cell has no respect for UKIP.

I have more than half a brain cell, and although not a UKIP supporter I find this smear like tactics by other people denouncing UKIP as stupid etc quite odd.
Pointing out negative aspects of immigration =/= hatred of foreigners. Therefore these posters =/= xenophobia or racism.

Well, they're a stupid party. They're against gay marriage, they want to abolish all sorts of worker's rights, they want to abolish maternity leave, they voted against tighter EU laws on the ivory trade, they voted against clampdowns on tax evasion, they have links with far-right groups and even the founder has left them because they're too right-wing. The reason they get any support is because they make up complete lies (like the 75% one that I disputed and you haven't come back on) about the EU and play on people's prejudices. Essentially, they're a sexist, homophobic, party for typical middle aged Daily express readers with, even if they're not racist as a party, large racist elements and links to racist groups around the world.

Quite a few people were/are against gay marriage. It depends on somebody's personal opinion and belief system.

All political parties have links with extremists at some level. You seem to think far right is bad, but I'm assuming your omission about far left groups means that you choose to ignore extremists either side of the political spectrum have done damage.

You've gone on a tirade against why UKIP is so bad but failed to address the main reason for their existence. Their anti EU stance.

There was a time when both left and right argued against that.

But I think it's more a case of this

Yes, I haven't said anything about far-left groups because it wasn't the point - UKIP are linked to far-rightists not far-leftists. I'm not really linked to any particular party so I have no links with the far-left. I'm a libertarian socialist/ leftist anarchist so you can't really compare me to people who have done evil acts on the far-left.

I have nothing against a rational debate on the EU and I think the EU is far from a perfect system but it protects workers and the environment by putting regulations on free trade. What I absolutely don't want is a debate on the EU based on deliberate misinformation (come on, back up the 75% figure - you seemed convinced by it. Or do you admit it's a lie?) and hysteria like UKIP and the right-wing papers are peddling.

And yes, you've put that meme up a few times now - doing it again and again won't make it funnier. It's just desperate and has no place in a rational debate.

Where have I ever said I wanted to live in an all white society?

Why would I advocate sending my girlfriend back to where she came?
You might think it is stupid, slightly crass and trying to play on people's fears, but it isn't really racist
