radius = 2, COM of a semi circle is 4r/3pi

but this comes from the COM of a lamina sector equation in the formula booklet , go check it out and use alpha = pi/2 (which is half the angle in a semi circle)

Original post by vinnie1234
The formula in the formula booklet (sector of circle) , r = 2 and alpha =pi/2

Thanks guys, I got t wrong b/c I didn't say 2a= pi, hence a=0.5 pi
Hey, good luck this morning everyone! Just wondering if anyone could help me with something before the exam.. How do you know when there is a horizontal and vertical component of a reaction force (in statics) as opposed to just a vertical one?

It's only for hinge I think, everything else is just 1.
Well, that went well. No doubt I made some silly mistakes, but at least I knew how to do everything. Such a nice paper compared to what I was expecting.

I agree, it was a nice paper. Unfortunately, I messed up and had to pretty much redo question 6, 7 and 8 which didn't leave me enough time to finish question 8. I'm annoyed because the questions were so simple.

I got your Q1, 2, 5, 6, 8. For 7 I got 58w2\sqrt{\frac{5}{8} w^2} or something like that. What was Q4?

Guys, can people retake specific A-Level modules while you're at university? I think I'm going to get a bad grade for FM, because of FP2 and M2, but I want to rectify that next summer. How much does it cost to sit them independently at a college or an exam centre?
