Green snakes are insectivorous, which does make things somewhat easier.

If I wanted to buy a snake (Green snake, to be precise), how would I go about achieving my goal? I.e. Where can I buy a snake from?

I'd look for a specialist reptile or exotic pet shop; they'll know much more about ophiology and the correct care of a snake; although you may end up having to source the snake from a specialist breeder (I've no idea how common the keeping of green snakes is in the UK) -- the pet shop may help you with this, or do it for you.
a ssssssssssssssssupermarket
Hawaii, just don't import it by plane though
You'll have to go to an exotic pet shop I'd imagine.

As others have said, reptile shops are the way forward, or private breeders, the latter would be my preference, not a fan of keeping wild caught animals.

Here's my little...well, 5 and a half foot Brazilian Rainbow Boa.
