Roles of the endodermis in a plant?

Please could I have a few roles that the endodermis plant does both in roots and stems,and is their function the same in both?

Endodermis manages the permeability of nutrient salts and water. So endodermis enables an exchange of substances between central cylinder and bark in a root of a plant by 'passages cell'. Thus nutrients of a plant can be transported through the stem.
