Looking at how May has been put in such a difficult position I wonder how many leaders will be all the more wary of Trump.

Many of his departments are currently being run by Obama appointees as it is. This is exactly to form on how he runs his business, centralising power in himself and his chilsren. Although given the vast majority of his holdings are zombie firms he gets away with it there. Not sure it'll fly with a modern bureaucracy.

He seems to think he's running a hotel and has just fired the door porter for not wearing the correct tie.

What's incredibly worrying from a global safety point of view is that he has put Breitbart-Bannon effectively in charge of national security and has actually banned the CIA and NSA from attending unless Bannon says it's OK. So global nuclear security is now in the hands of an extremist neo-fascist magazine editor.

Shades of Alastair Campbell but on speed. Perhaps Trump has been on the phone to Blair.

They both stink of desperation, one trying to cobble together some deals to make Brexit look good, one trying to look credible to the wider world who hold him in contempt.

This is obviously untrue. If most of his support was concentrated in the Rust Belt, he wouldn't have won the necessary electoral votes to become president. Rather, they were his most electorally important voters - they flipped just the right states for him to win the electoral college.

His clean sweep of the South is just as significant, but let's not ignore the fact that Wisconsin and Michigan in particular traditionally never go in the red column. That those states flipped against someone in love with NAFTA and TPP is not a coincidence.
This might make people feel better:

Now comes news that Trump and his people have told all the existing senior civil servants in the State dept to leave immediately, something that nobody in Washington can recall ever happening before. He won't fill those jobs for months, so in the meantime, US foreign policy in detail will be pretty much abolished, there will be no expert advice to him and his cabinet on a huge range of topics and they will be incapable of discussing anything in depth with foreign states other than direct through the White House, which will rapidly prove to be impossible.

Each day brings news of fresh levels of idiocy. The effects of this are likely to be severe. We can expect major dislocations in US relations with the rest of the world. Probably there will be outrageous incidents and miscalculations.

Probably there will be a return to sanity in U.S. foreign policy

And pissed off the Australians. It's like he wants to ensure America has no key allies by the end of his presidency.

In a debate with Bernie Sanders, Ted Cruz likened single payer healthcare to 'pixy dust' and buying a Lambourghini. No comment.
