Should set an example, don't smuggle drugs.

If that's what the law of Indonesia says then that's what must be done. I have zero sympathy for the two Australians, who have been trying to use their foreign citizenship to wriggle out of the just penalty that their Indonesian colleagues are accepting without complaint.

You know what lesson this is going to teach? Don't smuggle drugs in Indonesia.

Drug smugglers are rarely the type with mental conditions, they are people like you or me, they can think logically and they tend to be street smart individuals who want quick cash. These types of people respond strongly to incentives and disincentives. If you tell them getting caught means death then you won't see many people smuggling drugs after this.

And legalisation will never happen in a million years

yikes, that's incredibly authoritarian
drugs only let people willingly kill themselves, in a pleasurably way, at first (specifically talking about coke and heroin here)
why is that something to *execute* people over? that's so ridiculous to me
in fact, in my opinion, certain kinds of "illegal drugs" can be empirically good for you so long as you approach it like alcohol - there's so much scientific evidence of this, yet nobody has ever bothered looking into it
for example, LSD and MDMA - if you don't do them, like, *every other day*, and rather, maybe a few times a year, you'll be a much happier individual and you'll approach life in a much more optimistic manner - those drugs have been used to deal with people with depression, alcohol addiction, shell-shock, etc, just like weed has been used to cure insomnia, stress, etc.
but whatever, don't listen to me or anything - I'm not encouraging anybody to do anything, I'm encouraging people to look up the evidence

While I disagree with the Death Penalty, the fact remains these people willingly went to a country with the Death Penalty, and they are suffering the consequences.

We should be asking for clemency for all victims of state murder, regardless of their nationality.

in iran it's a capital offence for homosexuals to sleep with each other - are you going to use your logic of "they had it coming, they knew it was a crime" to those people as well? I am simply arguing that it should never be an offence in the first place. also, dealing/importing drugs (etc) doesn't actually harm anybody, and does not violate liberties of other citizens, as it does not concern them, so why should they suffer for that? there are FAR worse things in society than drugs or drug dealers which are not dealt with via execution

You're very naïve if you think that "making an effort to change that law" would result in anything other than imprisonment or death. (I'm talking about homosexuals in Iran here, not drug smugglers in Indonesia).

how are drug dealers scum? a tobacconists and brewers scum too? I don't understand what you're really saying? are you saying that those that challenge the legitimacy of the laws of the state regarding non-violent "crimes" are the scum, or are those that allow people to freely purchase recreational/mind-altering substances scum?

drug dealing has never lead to death ofcourse.

No gang has ever fought for drug turf

But seriously they have no one to blame but themselves.........they should be punished.

God i hope the execution gets botched, so they can suffer more

Then maybe homosexuals should leave the country or become straight (just for saying that the anti death penalty liberals are going to murder me)
