choice of A level for universities & reason for popularity of dutch universities

Hi all

im a mum of a GCSE student deliberating taking economics maths and geography for A levels this Sept. He has to finalise his subject choice next week.

Could I ask you if you feel economics A level is a respected subject from a university's point of view and also what gives the edge to universities in the Netherlands over UK universities (other than cost)?

Thanks

A bit bewildered by the enormity of this all

@ Dutch unis: Cost. It's close to the UK. Everyone speaks some English. They have no grade-requirements for entry (passing some relevant A-levels suffices), except for a handful of courses. Also, they are roughly of the same standing/quality, unlike in the UK where massive differences exist. It makes some sense to go there if you are not looking for an Oxbridge quality education.

Thanks Zefiros. Does one come out with a degree of international repute that employers would consider?

Not sure. Objectively, the Dutch universities are pretty decent, but I am not sure to what extent employers (in the UK, for instance) are aware of that.
