Issue with Coil

Hey,

I had the Mirena IUD inserted three weeks ago. During the first week I had extreme pain, to the point where I was screaming in pain (even after having taken strong pain relief).

I could feel the threads as I walked pinching me. When I checked myself, I could feel them poking out, right at the entrance to my vagina. I assumed it had fallen out or something. We went to A&E and they were reluctant to help me, and instead told me to return the following day.

I ended up seeing the doctor who had fitted it, who checked it, moved it around a bit, and the pain went away. She said it hadn't fallen out, and that the strings were in the normal place.

It hasn't affected sex at all - my boyfriend says he can't really feel them.

But should they be that long? It's not really that uncomfortable, but I worry that it actually isn't positioned properly.

I had the same issue with my threads when I first got mine. They curl up around your cervix after a couple of months and even now they sometimes feel longer depending where I am in my cycle.
