IAL C12

In c12 when intergrating a curve how would I know when to subtract it from the area of a triangle, trapezium etc and when to just leave the integrated answer as it is?
Any help will be appreciated thanks :smile:

It depends on the question. If the shaded are is somewhere in between two lines, you have to subtract the area below the lower line by the area under the graph of the line above. if the region is only bounded by the co-ordinate axes then there is no need to subtract
