when doing interpolation- if its grouped data do we have to 1) change the ranges i.e +0.5,-0.5 (if needed) and use in the interpolation and 2)add 1 to the total Cumulative frequency before multiplying it by 0.5,.0.25.0.75 to find the quartiles

Which examiner?
For edexcel S1 you don't do the "add 1" in step 2 for grouped data. you are recommended to calculate using the exact term value found from n/4, n/2 or 3n/4
