Pretty much because of the financial services / investment banking firms based in London, a lot of the parts of London which are majority bme residents are fairly impoverished.

It's a big city. Originally council homes were put up in these cities all over the world because of industrial/factory work and the need to live nearby these urban jobs.
Now it's become a safe haven for immigrants of all creeds and backgrounds. And it becomes a condensed place with people piled on top each other.
As far as empire, businessmen/women see it as a holy grail for finance.

Not really, many houses have just two-three floors, it's usually five in Paris, and XXX in New York.

London is majority white unless those from Europe and the Anglosphere have painted their faces. White British are still a massive plurality (nearest challenger is on 12%).

The simple answer is that London has the largest population and as you know from first year Economics, an expansion of the labour force leads to an expansion of output so long as the rate is low enough not to generate unemployment. It's per capita advantage is more of a highlight and that's largely due to financial services, rich foreigners and agglomeration economics.

Evidence? This study suggests the opposite to be true.

The report analysed figures from 1995 to 2011, during most of which the Labour government was pursuing vigorously pro-immigration policies.
