what are Highers?

I was looking at going to unis in Scotland and saw that I needed Higher English. What is this in the rest of the UK?

Hi Naomi,

I believe Higher English is an English A2 level.

Hope this helps,

Do you happen to know what advanced Highers are?

AHs are harder than highers and I think A levels also, we do them in our last year of secondary school if you've passed higher and want to study the subject at a higher level. I think they are comparable to the first year of university for a lot of courses; with A/B at AH in the right subject you can apply for direct entry into second year in some courses 😊

Hi Naomi,

Yeah exactly as stated above.

Advanced Highers or AH are equivalent to the first year of university.
