Need help with variable definitions!

I've been asked to give examples of a "categorical binomial independent variable" a "categorical ordinal independent variable" and a "continuous independent variable" but I'm not exactly sure what these are, can anyone shed some light on these terms for me?

Should explain everything. Note that nominal variable is the same as categorical (i think!)- categorical literally just means in categories. Binomial means that there are only two categories.
