69 for C1
67 for c2
52 for S1

sign, there goes my a* for maths

Not necessarily, you need 80 UMS overall with 90 UMS average in C3/4. More than achievable
Original post by iMacJack
You may get 1 or two, but you needed some reasoning behind it

Yeah i agree id hope for 1, i should have put reasoning but exam pressure just made me forget.

In some past papers reasoning wasnt needed for that identical type of question. But things change.

how do you do the very last venn diagram question? it asked how many had dinner so i just did 77 * the probability of the dinner section and ended up getting decimal numbers

You have to use the previous parts to answer so:
P(DIBnR)*number of people + P(DIB'nR)*number of people
9/20*40 + 15/37*37 = 18+15 = 33

ill need 80% for AS, my s1 grade would have let me down

On that question when you have to say how the new data piece will effect the mean and Standard Deviation, will i get marks for just putting;

The mean will stay the same

The standard deviation will decreases

Thanks in advance :smile:

Yes, they usually ask this question in the IAL papers (eg January 2015) and state to 'give a reason' but on the mark schemes it only ever looks for 'decreases' or whatever it is. That explains why it's only 1 mark tbh.

Cheers! However this is obviously assuming I got all method marks... I'm confident with the 100 UMS in C2, and the high 90's in C1, maybe 93-95 in S1 potentially?

We'll see! Nonetheless it's a good amount of UMS so I'm happy! How are your results looking?

Im actually doing A2, Ive already been graded for AS.

C1 A

C2 B

D1 A

I Got 264 UMS For those, and on Stats im looking at around 60 - 65 marks i think

Haha I appreciate it :tongue:

But hey - it's next year that properly matters, if I can recreate this performance at A2 in my maths and further maths that'd be great :smile:

Best of luck for the rest of your exams!

Can someone explain how to calculate Syy with sd and mean please?

Sigma = root (Syy / n)

Solve for Syy

You got 84% raw marks, so would expect a low A. Thats similar to what I'm hoping for, as I think I averaged 62 marks. You'll be fine buddy.

Sigma = root (Syy / n)

Solve for Syy

Syy = 8 x (SD)^2 in the exam.

because

Syy = sum of(y - bary)^2
I thought that S1 paper was very tricky. I can see the boundaries being very low.

I'd say

A: 57
B: 50
C: 43

Maybe one mark added to each one
