how do you do the very last venn diagram question? it asked how many had dinner so i just did 77 * the probability of the dinner section and ended up getting decimal numbers

Not necessarily, you need 80 UMS overall with 90 UMS average in C3/4. More than achievable

On that question when you have to say how the new data piece will effect the mean and Standard Deviation, will i get marks for just putting;

The mean will stay the same

The standard deviation will decreases

Yes, they usually ask this question in the IAL papers (eg January 2015) and state to 'give a reason' but on the mark schemes it only ever looks for 'decreases' or whatever it is. That explains why it's only 1 mark tbh.

So retake S1 next year? All hope is not lost

I thought that S1 paper was very tricky. I can see the boundaries being very low.
