hey. I don't know if you made a decision yet but I have been to both univerities on open days. My BF is at edge hill so I know it better. It depends on what your course is like/which you prefer, but i would also consider what lifestyle you want... edge hill has much much better accomodation (all new) i would much rather live there personally. YSJ is the smallest uni i ever been. Would you rather live closer to york or liverpool?
