Questions telling you to "Discuss"
One of the exam questions I've come across is about the gravitational potential energy of a man in the London Eye.
The question is as follows:
Discuss whether it is necessary for the motor driving the wheel to supply this gravitational potential energy. (2 marks)
How would one go about answering this question to get full marks? Do you need both sides of the argument?

Well firstly you'd need to comment on 2 things for 2 marks:
1) As potential energy is gained by one man, it's lost by a man on the opposite side of the wheel who is decending, so most of the energy comes from this.
2) There would be friction etc which would require some energy to be provided by the motor, to make up for the loss from the system.
