which envy x360?

So i wanna get a HP ENVY X360 13-ar0001na for uni, thankfully I have the option to get the higher end ryzen 7 version with 16 gb ram. However, the problem is that the laptop is very small and I'm afraid more power will result in more thermal throttle and overheating. One of the biggest reasons why I'm upgrading is bc my current laptop makes a lot of fan noise. It's very irritating and quite embarrassing in class. Should I go with the ryzen 5 3500u and 8 gb ram to play it safe, I'm saving money and it'll still get the job done?
Are you intending to play video games on this laptop?

Maybe but of course it's mainly for work so not anything heavy

unless you're rendering videos constantly or playing high end games often, I wouldn't worry about a Ryzen 7 or 16gb of ram. I'd definitely go for the lower option personally as it seems more then capable of meeting your needs.

for games, I would recommend a desktop PC so that you can understaff if necessary ...
What you can’t do with the laptop, most even now have a processor soldered
