Which is the more social/louder halls Hamwic or Kimber?

I’ve managed to narrow down my two accommodation options to Hamwic or Kimber.

I’ve read reviews from many websites but give mixed replies, some say they’re quiet and boring and others say it’s fun and you shouldn’t stay there if you don’t want to go out every night.

I would want my halls to be social and fun, as I am a big people person and don’t really like staying alone.

I’m leaning towards Hamwic, purely because most of the reviews have been positive.

Hi @Hmm23,

Although it depends on your flatmates at the time, when I stayed at Hamwic in first year it was a very sociable residence. Whilst I stayed there it was fun and there was always something to go and do! Equally, I had a coursemate living in Kimber at the time, and her halls were just as sociable.

My advice would be to pick the halls you would most like to stay in, as it is easy to find new, like-minded friends either in halls, on your course or in societies.

Hope this helps, let me know if you have any other questions!

Good luck with your studies,
Eloise

Hi Hmm23,

Just to add another point of view, I stayed at Hamwic in my foundation year and it was great, I was on the second floor and there was not many if any problems with noise. I also found that there were a lot of friendly people who wanted to socialise in the shared spaces and also out in the city. It was just a shame that with Covid I had to leave early😔.

I heard lots of positives from others at different accommodations and still met up with people if they were living at a different one, so I wouldn’t worry about not being able to sociable.

Don’t hesitate to contact if you have any more questions.

Isaac 😀
