Hey everyone!

🌸We are officially halfway through our A Levels (or equivalent). For some, this will be the final year of education. So, it’s pretty exciting!!🌸

💚We have all come so far💚

🌟This is a judgemental-free, positive space. You can dump your worries here, bond with other year 13s, share your revision plans, motivate each other etc!🌟

🦋This year is going to be a very busy year, but I know we can smash it!🦋

☃️Here are some icebreaker questions☃️

1) Which subjects are you taking?
2) Are you enjoying them?
3) If you are doing/have done an EPQ, what topic is on?
4) What are your plans for after A Levels?
5) What do you personally want to achieve?
6) How are you feeling about year 13?

1) biology, chemistry, And math
2)I'm pretty much enjoying math and chemistry but biology is so content heavy and the mark scheme is very fussy
3) no EPQ
4) to go to uni and study pharmacy
5) I want to get 3 A* but I'm afraid of biology so if I get a B in it that would be enough
6) I'm excited yet nervous as well about uni and ucas

yhhh kinda, the personal statement is what's killing me tho and choosing unis :/

Heya!
PS can be tough to do. What I usually do is google a good example of a personal statement and note down what kind of activities they included e.g. work experience, any literature they have read and etc. Here is a website that offers various examples of personal statements you could get inspiration. Don't copy word for word though! Bullet point out all the activities and reasonings the person has mentioned, make questions out of them and then relate your own experience to it. Have you done/watched anything related to the field?

The website above also offers advice on choosing unis. What I would really recommend is looking at the module descriptions and choices rather than going by ranking alone. Take a note of each module you would find really interesting and would want to do  It's important to learn and gain various skills during your degree rather than doing something repetitive and boring! Also, write pros and cons of the city itself!

I hope this helps!

I feel so stressed and unhappy rn with all the deadlines I need to meet. It’s not just that but I have been working on them all summer but they’re still nowhere near where I want them to be😞

1) Maths, History, economics (dropped further maths at the end of y12)
2) Absolutely loved content for history and also love maths too (because its quite easy), economics is okay but the dept isn't
3) Starting EPQ rn - Is China in Africa a form of neo-colonialism? - referring to the investment China is putting into Africa leaving them in a lot of debt until they lose their resources to China's control
4) BSc in Politics and economics at LSE or PPE at UCL
5) Minimum grades A*AB (the requirements for contexual offers)
6)Ready, determined bc I know the study methods that works now and can cope with subjects better after dropping my 4th
I'm confused about contexual offers - does my predicted need to meet the requirements and its just the offer that's lower? For example, if a course requires A*AA, contexual A*BB (UCL PPE) what should my predicted grades be?

same, very stressed. I'm doing a geography NEA and an English one. Also, need to finish my personal statement and revise for mock exams. Lots to do and not much time :frown:
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone thinks its worth it to get a job now (In year 13) after going all the way through yr11 and 12 without one.

Especially since I'm aiming to get high A-Level grades and I have no experience with a job so I don't know how I'd be with revision and now a job on top of that. I don't really need the money (I'm an extreme introvert who barely ever buys things) but I want the job more for the experience. Also attempting to get a job throughout yr12 without the support of my parents (v. strict) and a terrible Indeed CV. I don't know if it's worth the extra stress. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Maybe look for a tutoring job because it's not too much responsibility and mostly just weekends.Or private tutoring and you can paid almost £20 an hour - what I did last year

Heya!
Year 13 is the last year which means a lot of pressure, especially if you are aiming for high a-levels. It's ok not to have the best ever CV - you are still at an early stage and it's good to start developing it more through experience (you'll also get a lot more opportunities at uni where you can become Student ambassador, internships and etc).
Be careful with what type of work you pick. My friend decided to become a waitress during year 13 and was so caught up with it that she failed all of her a-levels (she was not doing proper revision and prioritising work and she would work 5hrs after school).
First, create a timetable with dedicated revision time and see how much time is left for you to be able to do work. If you can dedicate around 2hrs per day, I would recommend getting a very flexible part-time job online such as a GCSE tutor :h: You learn plenty of skills and it looks good on your CV! When it's closer to the exam/mocks time, please remember to prioritise your revision.

I hope this helps!

Could I ask how you applied to tutor because I've tried to look at some online but they require higher level qualifications and I only have GCSE's and Predicted Alevel grades.

Try Explore Learning-they only require GCSE’s-it’s maths and English for 5-14yr olds-outside of London they pay £6.25 p/h for 17yr olds I don’t know what it is for 18yr olds

Tutoring someone privately, I just asked around people I already knew and I had a friend in year 11 so I tutored her. Otherwise, tutoring jobs can be found on Indeed but this would most likely be up to KS3 and not GCSE, paying minimum wage. Hope that helped x

1) Chem, Maths and Eng Lit/Lang
2) only english
3) wanted to do EPQ, dropped it for health reasons
4) do dentistry
5) A*AA but I'm predicted ACC (hoping I can get English up to an A* so it kind of covers the A*BB I'm hoping to get
6) terrified, I think this year is going to be super hard for me, in terms of pressuring and getting things done--i have so much to do and this feeling of there not being enough time. But I know it will be worth it in the end so I'm poweirng through.
I'm a med applicant studying chem, bio, french.UCAT 3090 band 2.I really want to put in an oxbridge application but that also would require doing the BMAT, and my driving test is this friday. My current thought process is literally if I pass the driving test, I sit the BMAT entrance exam.I've started this year feeling very disorganised in comparison to last year, but we will see how it goes!!
