Hi, Could someone please explain how amines with different lengthed alkyl groups are named? In my CGP textbook, CH3-NH-CH2CH3 for example would be named ethylmethylamine, but chem revise says you need to put an N infront of the shorter alkyl group, making it N-methylethylamine. Which will get me the marks (I'm AQA by the way)

You do need to put the N in front to signify the substitution on the nitrogen for A level.
