I don’t get the part I circled in red, the working is all correct but it’s not my working… can someone plz explain why it’s 2x the reaction of the part circled in redIMG_2496.jpeg and for part d ii do i need to put plus on Li?

It tells you that H3C-CO groups can react with aldehyde groups to form the organic product. If you draw the structure of propanone out, you’ll notice that there is a CH3 either side of the CO group, so it has two H3C-CO groups (albeit on the same CO group). As such, both of these groups can react as shown in the example equation.

For (d)(ii), it’s probably better to draw charges than to not, since they do teach you that generally metals form ionic bonds with nonmetals.
