Help I annotated my Q on the pic.
Basically I put the answer in red but ms says the blue answer…
I circled my longest carbon chain I used in red do I still get mark? IMG_2514.jpeg

this is because the methyl group can only exist on the 2nd carbon so its not needed to say 2-methyl

if the methyl group is on the 1st or 3rd carbon then it would be butan2-ol, do you get it?

if 2 marks are awarded in this scenario you would only get one for the correct propan-2-ol

You shouldn’t have a dash between methyl and propan, since dashes are only for segregating between numbers and words.

If it wasn’t for the incorrect dash, I’d probably have given you the mark anyway, since indicating the methyl group on the second carbon is perfectly correct, it’s just superfluous, since the second carbon is the only position where you could attach an extra methyl group.
