Help chem reduction

For this Question I thought that carboxylic acids can’t be reduced… it specifically says this in my teachers class notes and in text books for ocr a. Level chem so I don’t get why the CA is reduced to a primary alcohol… plz explain guys 😭 guysIMG_2535.jpegthese Are someone else’s worked sol from net

Carboxylic acids can be reduced but it takes a strong reducing agent, such as LiAlH4. Weaker ones like NaBH4 don't work. They reduce to aldehydes, which can reduce again to alcohols. I do AQA so I'm not sure if you do this in OCR.

I think for ocr is simplified and we learn that it doesn't reduce
