Planning permission and liability

Hi all,
I have been asked by a friend to draft up some elevations for them, as they are wanting to build a porch extension. I did my research and found out a planning application will be needed, which will require a lot of extra work and time. They of course offered to pay. I am a Part 1 currently working at the architectural office, so I do have the knowledge and know I could take it though planning. I don’t want to do that as it’s simply too much of a head ache. My manager advised me against it as well, or if I do wanna go for it - to get myself a PI. However, if I hand them basic drawings like plans and elevations, without me taking them through the planning process, how much will this hold me accountable in the future? It’s only a sketch? Can someone please explain the liability part?

I am only giving them a basic front & side elevation with their proposed extension and 2 plans. I am not giving any details and I am not taking it through planning.
