So i’ve accidentally applied for the wrong year in student finance i’ve applied for 2022-2023 instead of 2023-2024.
what do i do?

You would need to cancel you 22/23 application which you can do online in your account, then apply for 23/24.

Can i have a step by step guide on how to do that? As it asked me to send in a letter and a form, but if i am able to do it all online that would be helpful.

You would login to your account, click on your 22/23 application, change my application and cancel. This link shows you ho to make changes here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zs3vH6gHXFE
If you can't do this online, it will ask you to complete a CO1 Change of Circumstances Form, which you would need to contact us to send this to you.

Once you have cancelled your application, you would apply for 23/24 academic year.

It says i cant make any changes as it says i’ve started my course in which i haven’t i just mistakenly pressed the wrong academic year. I called on the phone and an advisor told me to send a CO1 form and a cover letter however i was told on facebook that i can’t use a CO1 form to cancel my application. I was also told to chat to a different advisor on the live chat function and i don’t know where that is

If you can't cancel the application online you would complete the CO1 Form as I mentioned above, and the telephone adviser. You would put in the other box you wish to cancel the application as applied for the wrong year, and upload this online in your account under the evidence upload option. I’m so sorry for the inconvenience and many questions, i’m just so confused, i was told that the live chat function is meant to pop up once i’ve logged in and i cant see it anywhere, like you and another advisor said, id need to fill in the CO1 form and i’ve printed it out but i haven’t seen an option where it says to cancel the application because of my mistake
