Is Bsc Physics with Data Science from QMUL worth it?

I want to avoid doing Masters and go straight to employment after uni. I am interested to work as a data analyst or data scientist.

I get really annoyed when people ask whether a degree is worth it. In what context? According to what criteria? What are your values? Is this about return on investment?

If you want to go into data analysis, then you don't need a degree to do that. Instead, my preference would always be going straight into an apprenticeship where possible. If you don't get into an apprenticeship, then I would get the professional certificates for the role.

Data scientist is more of a debatable role since there is mixed opinions about it being on the decline. Instead, employers in industry are said to turn towards data analysts instead. If you want to go into academia, you would be looking at the degrees and very likely postgrad on top.

Whether this means the degree you are looking at is "worth it" depends on you. If you can be significantly more detailed and specific, I might be able to answer your question properly.

Disclaimer: I don't work as a data analyst or data scientist.
