Lots of unis have facebook groups that you can join to get to know people in your halls or on your course. You can chat to people about what to take, make plans for the first week etc which really got me excited to start uni!
Usually there are groups to find people on your course too.
I'd also recommend posting in the thread on here for the university you're going to, as there might be other people searching for people too!
If you can't find anyone online then don't worry! It's really easy to make friends and meet lots of people in your first week
