Mathematics

My family wants me to stay in London and I was in clearing so now I am going to go to QMUL for Mathematics BSc (G100), which is not really a uni that specialises in Maths. I am unable to change this. What are my best chances for a good career? How have people made up for the low national ranking (37th according to 2024 league tables)? Would it be a good idea to reapply for the top London unis (retaking A Levels) during 1st year?

Edit: I was blinded by results day stress when initially posting this and much of this has been clarified now.

Yh I apologise, I realised I asked a very unhelpful question so I edited it out lest I just embarrass myself.

Thank you.

No question is unhelpful :nah:
Honestly my advice would be to think about if you really want to study in London, because so far it sounds like that wasn't a choice you wanted to make.

One problem with my original question is that it was really exaggerated. I have done a lot more research on universities now and Queen Mary Maths does seem to be a really good option in my circumstances as I got okayish A Levels and I get to live with my family while going to uni.

My main problem was with QMUL having less prestige than the other major London unis, but honestly their course seems to fit my needs nearly perfectly.

Also I will probably just work toward having a good master's application and hope for the best.

Thank you so much for the guidance on this

Ohyh and I'm also restoring the question to the first version to avoid confusing people.

Prestige doesn't matter in most cases, your experience of uni does though.
If staying at home is something you want to do then it looks like QMUL is a good option, just make sure it's what you want and not just what your family wants.
