Repeated roots

Y=-(2x-1)³(x+5)
The question asks to draw the graph but I don't understand why the line goes through 1/2 because doesn't the power of 3 make it a repeated root so shouldn't it just bounce off the x axis at 1/2

It 'bounces' if the root is repeated an *even* number of times.

Equivalently, note that if you had an even power outside the bracket like (6x-5)^2 then the bracket could only be positive or 0, but when you've got something like (3x-7)^3 the fact that it's cubed means that (unless there's a restriction on the domain) when the thing inside the brackets becomes negative, its cube will be negative also.
