We’ve seen three Conservatives spouting emotive populist nonsense in the last few days. Most people are smart enough to see right through them but if you are not, take a step back and ask yourself why? What is their game?

Lee Anderson - facing unemployment at the next election but trying to forge a career in the media. He needs to make controversial statements to stay relevant.

Suella Braverman - jockeying for position to be next Conservative leader. She neglected her duties as Home Secretary to focus on playing internal party political games. Now she has lost her platform, she needs to continue to make controversial statements to stay relevant.

Liz Truss - after her disastrous spell as PM, she’s jumped on the American hard right grifter gravy train. She needs to make controversial statements to stay relevant and keep those pay cheques coming. She may also be completely insane.

Anderson has such a long history with making inflammatory and edgelordy comments that I am amazed it's taken this long for any action to be taken.

I mean okay it's the tories so maybe not that amazed, but still.

Along with a lot of thanks for most of the Rochdale by-election candidates/political cesspit and the journalists reporting the shambolic state of that by-election campaign. :rolleyes:

At this rate, the Trump team will have to start taking tips from British politics on how to attract constant mass media coverage without spending 7-8 figure sums on criminal lawyers or tv attack ads and whip up grassroot frenzies of dismay & outrage.

Good riddance that Lee is gone, however the double standard for figures like Suella Braverman urgently needs addressing - she has been on record recently making similar Islamophobic remarks

He is working class and she is loaded with plenty of support within and outside the parliamentary party.Only difference.Sunak wouldn't dare to withdraw whip from her.

People who like Lee andwrwon will like him for the reason, they sort of thing resonates with them. People who don’t already thought he was a racist, so yeah loses the whip but no real difference to him
