I would suggest going to wilmslow as it is a mmu hall so you will meet alot more people at your campus and maybe on your course. I live at wilmslow and I know its got a reputation for being unsociable but I absolutley love it here I'v met loads of friends and the flats have really good facilites!

Hiya, I live at Wilmslow Park at the moment and definitely recommend it!!
I looked at Unite halls like Parkway Gate as well but Wilmslow is in such a good location and friends I know living in Unite halls wish they had chosen Wilmslow!
The bus stop is just outside, underneath the building there are loads of shops such as Tesco Express, Lidl and Blockbuster and there's pubs like Varsity and Weatherspoons.
So yep definitely choose Wilmslow, the rooms are nice and you won't regret it!

I've put photos up in this thread http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/showthread.php?p=16087974#post16087974

Wilmslow for the shops underneath/secure facilities.
Kincardine court is good for oxford road location, but it's a bit dodge walking back after a night out coz it's next to loads of council houses/a scary park  but they're really nice, quite spaceous rooms. The ensuites are smaller than wilmslow ones. It's a further walk to the local shop compared to wilsmlow.
Parkway gate is really nice, and newer, the only reason I didn't choose it is because I needed parking.

wilmslow is awesome, as a promoter ive been to just about all the halls to visit people and if i had to choose any based on location, people and management you'll be safe at wilmslow park.

i worked there helping people move in at start of 08-09 and they people are great, the only unsociable parts are the ones where ppl have requested single sex or grouped with same religion.

Its one of the biggest halls in the city too so you're bound to meet ppl u get on with. If anyone is moving in there read this message as it may be of interest as we are employing hall reps in 09-10 term.

Socialites and enthusiastic young people get in touch

The boring need not apply!! x
Oh dear... I suppose this will help you get used to things though, because as a student living in halls, you will be bombarded with tons of annoying leaflets/posters/people trying to sell tickets for ****** club nights. If you're into that kind of thing lucky you, but it grates on the nerves after a while.

Parkway gate is by far the worst private halls of residence available in Manchester.

*It's over priced
*Poor maintenance and security
*Low life people live there (police called out every other night)
*Constant vandalism and general lack of respect from residents
*Lack of organised events
*Small rooms
*Too many international students (who refuse to socialise, with non internationals...)
*Its a magnet for asian/muslim students. (witch i don't have a problem with) But they only seem to socialise with fellow asian/muslims, and they generally act immature, disrespectful to other residents and quite daft seeing as though there supposed to be at university to be educated...

parkway gate is definitely not "by far the worst", who are you fooling?
maybe it was overpriced because you couldnt afford it then, its up to ppl to choose whether they think its worth the money or not.
surely there is a salvation army on the other side of the road, but oh well, too bad, as if you should be scared of ppl who dont have any sense of whats happening around them. having police around doing patrols is an awesome thing. what do you have in wilmslow park? opposite it is the great park where let me not tell you "what" happens at night!
the rooms arent small, except if you were looking at the classic single room obviously. actually, you can have studios in here.
maybe you shouldnt wait for the international students to come to you, try approaching them yourself. its usually english ppl who are holding back. by poor security you mean ppl not sitting at the reception 24/7? well maybe you are grown up enough to kinda look behind your back on your own as well..
