Student prostitution to pay for bills

So does anyone know someone who has done this? Women specifically? Who have resorted to these methods because they are in debt so much?

Nope, but i watched a programme about it once. Was pretty interesting actually.

I don't know specific people, but I know for a fact that it's pretty common. Nobody should have to do that, but you can see why they do when the financial rewards are so huge.

I did this when I went through bad patches. I couldn't afford to live of JSA and I couldn't find a job. I got in debt with United Utilities, tv licence ect. I was down to one meal a day. So I decided to sell my body to the highest bidder. It doesn't bother me. You do what you have to do to survive; to get food in your belly and keep the roof over your head. No-one else will do this for you. Don't trust the government; they are capitalists and are only interested in how much money they can make from the poor; how much suffering they can impose on those less fortunate.

That is the real world. Welcome to it!!

I'd assume to make a decent living doing it as a man, you'd have to be ok with doing it with a man.
If times got bad, i'd seriously consider it.

I doubt most heterosexual guys would have sex with a gay bloke for money - then again, who knows.

I also sold my body for cash while studying - not in the form of prostitution but by taking part in clinical trials. I assume it doesn't pay as well as prostitution, but I'm more comfortable with it.

I would rather have my family slaughtered than resolve to gay prostitution.

As long as everyone plays safe, it's their decision. (not that i'd do it)

I can't imagine any situation for a British student where it is the only way of surviving.

Putting aside how you've amassed that research data (oo-er), I really don't think it can be true. Universities are hives of gossip - if someone was doing it anywhere I've attended, I imagine it would become common knowledge fairly soon.

How much more money can be made by a prostitute vs. a stripper?

Are there any studies out there?

I always thought an amateur stripper can make some big bucks in the right strip club (given how much money is thrown at them).

Being a prostitute is perhaps an easier job, in the sense that it doesn't require as many skills. If a stripper isn't good at dancing, they would find it hard to hold down a job. But if you're a prostitute, you'll be able to find clients easily enough if you're reasonably attractive.
I'm not sure how many clients I would need to make up over £20k of debt. Too many I should imagine.

I'm not sure the exact extent of how many university students do engage in prostitution but it is disheartening. One of my lecturers at university specialises in sex work. Suppose I could email her.

But yeah if we say £100 for an hour and you're in debt of £20k that is a lot of work to do. You'd have to do about 200+ hours of work, meaning you've had sexual encounters for around 200 people in three years. I'm not sure even the most promiscuous at my university could match that. Well, actually, I'd rather not think of it too hard.

Yeah, it does sound an extreme solution.
