Yeah, I'm only doing one. There wasn't really a way of doing more, unless I wanted my first year with the OU to involve studying a 60 point level one, and a 60 point level two simultaneously :s-smilie: (all the courses for my degree are compulsory 60 pointers, with no optional courses)

Which language are you doing for the Modern languages degree?

How long do the OU take to update your financial status when they've received your documents? I sent first class on Sunday afternoon but still no update. I'm just panicking because I've been having major issues with Royal Mail recently thanks to them striking on a weekly basis in London and have had things turn up 2 weeks after they were posted and a lot of things getting lost in the post, so I want to make sure that my stuff has got there ok!

AH, I'm actually doing two (French and German), which is why there's absolutely no room for optional courses.

Aww that sucks. I didn't get an email to confirm that they'd recieved my application until August 5th and I'd sent it July 28th (I did send it for next day delivery). Did you get proof of postage?

I would much rather have an ECA with 2150 words than have to do an exam, I'm particularly hesitant about the preparation involved with an exam, considering as past experiences suggest, I seem to do rather rubbish at them.

Has anyone here had the fortunate experience of participating in an OU exam? What are they like?

I've done 1 which I passed but not brilliantly. It was ok, would have been better if the table hadn't have been wobbly. I was so nervous I'm surprised I could even remember my own name, hopefully I'll get a better score next time.

No I didn't, I decided to risk it and just stick it in the post box with first class stamps as I'm not at home during Post Office opening hours so I would have had to send it from a PO in central London when I work and I wanted to try and avoid it going through London since they're on strike on a daily basis at the moment! I took photocopies anyway so if it doesn't get updated by Monday then I might give them a call and see if there's an update.

Good idea. Hope you get an update soon.

Woooo I've bought a new chair! My old one was uncomfy to sit at for long periods of time, so I've spent rather a lot of money on a kneeling chair. Strangely it makes my feet colder than a normal chair

I buy stationery... I am actually a massive loser, I get really excited about going to staples and buying pens and notepads. :stupid:

My chair at home came from a travel agent that shut down... it is red and quite waiting room-esque.

I've had to ban myself from buying notebooks. I currently have 9 unused ones!

This is my chair:

It handily has a bit in the middle for my bird to sit on too.

But it is! Even my daddy likes it. He thinks it was far too expensive and a waste of money, though.

Alas, I could do with a new chair. Mine is quite old, decrepit and rather severely broken.

I have arthritis, and recently went on a course where we were told about specialist equipment and how we should really look after ourselves. I've always hated my computer chair. Then a few days ago I was in loads of pain after sitting in it for a while, so I though **** it and spent £50 on a new chair. I didn't intend to spend that much, but I started looking into chairsand decided if I was gonna buy one I might as well by a good one.

My GP has a chair like that lol.
Is that the one where you sort of sit/kneel? Everyone always said they were good, I just worry about becoming unstable and toppling over.

We used to have a wooden and leather knee chair like that. It was strange and got broken. A bit comfy though.

I concur.

Seriously, chair is really comfy! You don't really kneel; your knees are only there for balance.
