(Bristol) UWE - UWE, Bristol
Why do people always call "UWE" by "bristol uwe"?
It's name is not Bristol UWE... Bristol University of Western England doesn't make sense. It's like going to Oxford Oxford Brookes.
There's only one UWE so it's not as if it's ambiguous
the website sometimes uses "UWE, Bristol" to clarify the location of the university, which is fair enough as that is the normal way of describing a location.
saying Bristol UWE, or even more infuriatingly shortening it to Bristol is pretty lame indeed! -
Re: (Bristol) UWE - UWE, Bristol(Original post by holli3)
shortenin it to bristol wouldnt work either as there is already a bristol uni

Yeah I think that's the idea though...
so many people say it that if you say Bristol you now have to start it with 'University of' to be understood -
Re: (Bristol) UWE - UWE, BristolUWE, (location) would still be a less misleading way of saying it.(Original post by holli3)
because there are also linked uwe unis/collages in hartpury, gloucester n cheltenham....

Re: (Bristol) UWE - UWE, BristolI didn't say I had a problem with UWE Bristol... just with Bristol UWE(Original post by Gavyn)
What's the big deal? When you say UWE people don't know where it is, so it's easier to say UWE Bristol. Does it really matter??

one is normal, one is misleading
