Formula of complex ion (Ligand exchange question) :/



The answer is CuCl42- :s-smilie:

But because the Copper(II) sulfate is being surrounded by water CuSO4(H2O)6 shouldn't chlorine substitute the water molecules instead of the sulfate like in all ligand substitution, so the answer should've been CuSO4Cl4 I guess:s-smilie:
The question says it is dissolved in water. Hence, it will be aqueous copper solution: Hexa aqua copper 2+ reacting with HCl
edit- clue is also in the colour change given we know aqueous copper solution is blue :smile:
