The correct answer would have been the fluctuating pressure rather than high pressure in arteries close to the heart as reason for the elastic tissue. Not sure what letter it was though

Yeah that's correct, it will only allow substances such as O2 and CO2 through, the carrier proteins allow ions to go through so the phospholipids block it.

Just did the 2016 retake AS Biology f211 paper and I must say I am very chuffed with how I did. I finished the paper a bit early so went back and corrected two questions I got wrong. Trust me, Its all about exam technique. However much biology you know, it doesn't matter, if you have good exam technique and manage your time effieciently you can easily nail it.
