Not bad I think my skin is getting better waiting for the red marks to go down as well! I'm using tea tree as well and then Clinique anti blemish solutions

Some days I seem to have dryer lips than usual it isn't the same each day :s Hopefully only have three months to go. I know this sounds daft but I drank a lot on Sunday and I THINK I got drunk a lot quicker and was very sick. People have said though that drinking will just stop the effectiveness of the pills for a few days. Not getting drunk on them for a while though!

I am on 70mg now and I am unsure whether the headaches I keep getting are to do with the pills or the hot weather, trying to double the amount of water I am drinking.

Dont drink a lot. It will make you drunk quicker because your liver is already processing the drug, and then cannot process the alcohol as quickly. I find that one or 2 down the pub is fine, but we had a big piss up for a leaving do of mine, and I got trollied off not a lot. Drink plenty of water - headaches could be either, probably the weather tbh.

Just about to finish month two and begin month three! How is everyone else doing? I'm beginning to see a difference but shaved yesterday and my skins is very red from it where it usually isn't :frown: used exactly the same stuff.

My dermotologist recommended aqueous cream from BOOTS it has worked well would recommend it!

Have been getting nose bleeds which have been annoying!
I was on Roac about 3/4 years ago, and I'm still getting the horrendous side effects, well just these two actually:

#Dry / irritable eyes
#Dry skin, around mouth

dry skin is not really a problem.. i put a small amount of aqueous cream in the morning and then I can forget about it..

Its they eye problem thats pissing me off. 4 years on.. still using celluvisc eye drops.. wile they provide instant relief.. about an hour or two later they become uncomfortable again. its like I want to shut them.

Seen GP and Eye specialist who checked my tear duct system and said was fine and basically nothing they can do ..

I'm so angry because I want to be a pilot and eyes are the one of the most important things to a pilot. and if i feel the need to keep shutting them, then ill be vaporized very soon, when my plane strikes the ground!

Does anyone else have this problem and how did you overcome it?

My biggest problem at the moment is shaving, just gone up to 70mg and ive came out in a really bad shaving rash, looks awful.

Has really got me down.
I had the same. I was only taking 40mg tho.

I shaved once a week. and dont wear clothing that interferes with your neck . worked for me.

Ahhh okay ill try do that. Haven't got a clue what to say about your eyes :frown:, hasn't healed over four years not good :s-smilie:

Do you regret going on them then?

70 mg seems loads, i started on 20mg for the 1st month and a few days ago started 40mg.

Yeah everyone has said that, I started on 35mg my skin wasn't really that bad when i went on them, but was when i went for the appointment. Went on sunbeds for a bit which really helped.

The shaving rash is horrific...

im lucky cos i actually dont need to shave much at all, but im gona be on it for 6 months more, Im just worried about my lips and when i go to uni. i dont want them to look wrecked. As soon as i went on 40mg my lips got much drier and started to split. I can actually feeel my lips pumping with the drug, I swear.

However this is my 2nd course of roaccutane and im not getting crazy dry and flaky skin as i was the 1st time. 1st time my face was like shedding everyday

Oh right :frown: Buy some Vaseline that really helps me on my lips, they are very dry as well! Do feel your pain! Hope this rash comes down before I restart Uni for third year! And all my skin be better that would be great haha!

Did your skin flare straight back up then after you finished your first dose?

i find vaseline dont do much, but i heard something called karmex or suming is better.
No my acne went after the 1st dose or atleast reduced dramatically for about 1 year or more. Then it started to get bad again, so i just started it again

70mg isnt that much, depending on your weight. Im on a second course of 60mg, but have heard people on upto 120mg. 40-80 seems the "normal" range, but every derm is different.

My skin is dry, but I dont bother with sunscreen, and still drink while im on it. Not too much, I dont binge drink anyway, but it doesnt stop me having a couple down the pub on an evening. I put a bit of moisturiser on and some stuff for my lips. It might be because my dose has been all over the place this time (for 20-60mg/day) depending on what im doing and if I remember, but the results havent been fantastic. Derm was pleased when I went to see her, but I couldnt help think that I knew my own skin and it hadnt improved. Anyway, at least by under-doseing so much I'll have a lot of space tablets so its not going to be a 4 month course!

I am coming to the end of a long course and whilst the acne has mostly gone I am covered in red marks where spots used to be. My derm tells me these will go down when I stop the tane, people who have finished courses, did your red marks fade?
Definitely moisturise, use soap free face wash... natural like products.
This drug most definitely helped, but it doesn't mean that you will never get acne again, it is very effective & good so that you do not get the acne scarring and will make you feel so much better
stick with it and keep up with the medication
wish i could go back on roaccutane, best option going around!

I have that problem too lol just finished my last tablet for the course today. (woo!)
The annoying this is I'm mixed race so bright red cheeks without even blusher looks odd, I sometimes get people asking me if I'm boiling, or why so red. And then when you blush on top of that, tomato face! :l

The only main side effect I had was chapped lips when I never had a problem with my lips before, so that was annoying. But acne or chapped lips?
I did feel a bit depressed during the winter but I was down already so I guess the tablets just starting on them kinda multiplied the effect?
this sounds stupid but thinking about going to the gp to get roaccutane for my acne. however is it worth taking as the side effects seem so common and sometimes severe! im often get moody so im worried taking roaccutane will make it worse! :s-smilie:

Yeah go for it, it does get annoying though. Mine has flared up whilst ive been on them which has got me down. But you might as well give them a bash, just drink loads of water with it. So annoying that mine has come up.

Id say go for it though
My advice to anyone taking this powerful drug would be to stick to a cumulative dose of 150mg/kg(body weight) which is the recommended. I had a total cumulative dose of nearly 200mg/kg forsome reason and I think it has resulted in my skin thinning particularly on my face quite a bit. I was taking 70-80 mg's daily and it cleared up my skin completely very quickly, but my derm kept telling me to stay on it longer even when i only had like a tiny spot underneath my chin.

I am using moisturiser and face washes now which makes my skin a bit softer, but I wish I'd have taken less, as I feel 150mg/kg is the right amount to take. If my acne comes back now, I would be very reluctant to go on another course as I dont want my skin getting any thinner, and the short term side effects are horrible. I would seriously question your derm if you exceed 180mg's/kg especially if you have little acne remaining.
I used to take a generic roaccutane I ordered online - the tablets work, but the worst side-effect for me was the dry lips, especially if people don't know you're taking it; lip balm every 5 minutes it seemed like.

I would recommend the topical gel because this doesn't get on your lips - you just put it on each night (especially if your skin isn't THAT bad)

How much did you pay for them, and how much did you take? I regret taking nearly 200mg's/kg.
