Is the humanistic approach the same as the social approach to psychology?

As above. I'm writing an assignment on different approaches to psychological studies and so far I'm researching the psychoanalytical (which I believe is the same as cognitive?), behavioural and, obviously, humanistic approaches.

I just know that it's so naive a question but I'm new to psychology and, so far, I'm lost.

psychoananlysis is Freud- cognitivism is about the brain. They're very different.
and Humanistic is Rogers- don't beleive in exaperiments, beleive in self actualisation and all that. Social psychology is different- it's about how we interact and influence one another.

Thanks. I get it now. I know the names are very self-explanitory and the real reason why I asked is because I hoped, on some level, that the approaches would be the same. Then I wouldn't have to so so much research :rolleyes:

yea, psychoanalysis and cognitivism are both different..

Psychoanalysis -----> Behaviourism --------> Cognitivism ----------> Humanistic

i'm 99% sure that thats the 'simplified' history of psychology...
