Possesive Pronouns - French

Meh, ok, I get how to use them (le mien/la mienne/les miens/les miennes) etc, but the only problem is, I often don't know whether a word is masculine or feminine. Are there any tips or hints for how to find out? :s:

A large percentage of masculine and feminine words have simillar endings.

I was made to learn the lists off by heart, and now I can sight-recognise most of them, so I'd heartily recommend it.

A good place to start is 13 common masculine endings:

-acle

•

-age

•

-ai

•

-eau

•

-eil

•

-er/è

•

-et

•

-i

•

-ier

•

-isme

•

-ment

•

-oir

•

-ou

They rhyme quite nicely, so are relatively easy to memorise. I have a feeling you'd be spooked if I listed feminine endings as well :biggrin:

No... there are 26 of those, and I'd have to look em up to make sure! Just learn the masculine ones, I promise you it's the most useful thing you'll be able to to do to help :p:
