Hey blobfish  First of all, awesome name haha xD And secondly, the QR in that book is DEATH XD It is NOT REPRESENTATIVE AT ALL (except for maybe the few really hard questions that you are bound to get one or two of in the actual exam)!

However, due to this reason, you might want to do them just so you can be prepared for anything really!

Hey
Yea i got 598 QR, 692 AR, 628 VR and 842 DA so 2760 overall in the 600Q mock test. So i think my QR will be higher in the real thing hopefully
Original post by Atham
That means I would get like 815 for DA. Damn it, I wish I remembered the others. It all disappeared on me somehow when the browser crashed.

EDIT: Does medify give you a score out of 900?

BTW, am I the only one who thinks that the medify QR is a bit easier?

The medify mock tests give you a score out of 900.

I've been using the Kaplan score sheet/table as a rough guideline when I do these practise tests.

Not my picture but it's the same table from the book copied onto word doc. Hope that helps!

EDIT: The AR score here is out of date compared to the new AR section (55 questions instead of 65)

is the abstract reasoning in the ukcat official practice tests harder or easier then the real test. On medify its much easier!

Is this how the real UKCAT score is calculated?

Are the kaplan quantitative mock representative of the real exam cos i found it a lot easier than the ukcat mocks?

What resources would you guys recommend? I tried medify last year with the 600Q book, but was wondering about some new resources.

I'm using modify and the 2016 entry 1000 qs book. My exam is next week.

How did you do last year if you dont mind me asking

I'm only using Kaplan for SJ, but they recommend you to read the online documents called Tomorrow's Doctor and Good Medical Practice. They're not that long, and reading those will give you better understanding of SJ questions. I find the Medify SJ questions ridiculous as well, some of the situations they give is weird and some of the 'correct' answers are definitely wrong and their reasoning for them is terrible

I had a situation where a doctor was caught watching porn. Made me chuckle after a lot of boring questions.

4pm is pretty late. I would watch a film or something to try and distract myself. Mine was at 12pm and beforehand I ran through 3 or 4 AR sets and then read a newspaper to get my mind working. Definitely don't do anything too mentally strenuous.

I wanted to delay my exam before I went on holiday and it's the only time I had! Ye I'm planning on refreshing AR and QR and reading to get my brain going. Nothing vigorous

Medify DA is so weird! I do fine on sets of 5 (get them all or 1 wrong), but in the mock I got 15/28 and 540?! So ****ed up. Some of their logic is weird too.

Does anyone know if in the real exam you get a timer for each question (like practice on Medify) or is it just one timer per section?

Hey everyone, would really appreciate some help on QR. Like, when it comes to applyingdiscounts (lets just say 20% from an original total of 100), do you multipy1)100 by 0.8 or 2)divide 100 by 1.2. I'm pretty sure its the first. However, ina online kaplan mock, a q about tax deduction from a certain total, involveddividing by 1.something. So yh im confused, when would you multiply by 0.x andwhen would you divide by 1.x????

I think its just one timer for the whole section, it was like that for the mock exam on medify.
Hi guys

am doing comprehension questions on medify and really do not understand how to answer the questions

how representative are they of the actual questions u get on the actual thing because the passages are quite large and it takes me a lot longer than 40 secs to check all the five options and sometimes this is necessary as the final answer is the correct one

thanks

Can someone give me some advice on verbal reasoning, no matter how much practise i do, i don't seem to be improving.

Just did practice test 1 from Kaplan/kaptest as a first mock and to see where I am at (exam in 3 weeks) and I'm so scared now after my awful score. I ran out of time in each section and didn't even have time to guess the final ones in VR and QR 😩. I got 730 in DA which I guess I am happy about but if I'm going to be doing so bad in other sections in needs to be way higher than that. Also 630 in AR - terrible! These sections need to be at least 750 to pull up my VR and QR!

3 weeks before my exam should I be extremely worried by scoring in 500s (and not answering about 10QS in each) on QR and VR?

I'm so scared now! How can I improve on those two sections and HOW do people do this in the time limit????

Ukcat offical QR practise first 10 questions are harder than medify's questions :frown: Anyone else tried them?

Looks like they get easier as I go on, I think its a trap XD Maybe they will do it in the real test too :frown: I mean, I never learnt that the diagonals of a square can be used to calculate the area of the square using d^2/2...was this in gcse?

No, it was not in GCSE or IGCSE. Not even in the additional syllabus. But it is a common trick, especially in competitive maths.
Has anyone actually sat the UKCAT exam this year?

I have been practising using books and the official UKCAT website, but the maths questions seem to be very different on the website and in the book (the latest one)

So i just wanted to ask anyone who has sat their test this year if the maths questions are like those on the official UKCAT website or more GCSE styled questions?
