The fact that it seems to be almost impossible these days to buy clothes that are not A, indecent B, something you'd wear to a club and C, really over-embellished. I almost completely rule out shorts in the summer because it seems to me that the only ones you can get are hotpants and I cannot deal with the stares and comments I get (that every girl gets) when I wear them. I also think that hotpants, and especially the ones that show your buttcheeks, like others have mentioned, are smutty, and I like to feel classy and respectable in whatever I'm wearing. Blouses are see-through and I do not like the visible bra look. Same applied for lace and crochet or anything with open-work or transparent fibres like mesh. Everything seems to be cropped so you have to wear a camisole underneath unless your bottom half is high-waisted. These days you don't buy a new top; you buy two different ones and hope that the combination of them will sufficiently cover you up.
If you look on ASOS or something most of their clothing is not suitable for daily wear as it is too dressy. Even their 'casual' dresses are things better suited to evening socialising or the office.
Everything is really fussy and over-embellished and it's really hard to find basics these days. I'm looking for formal wear at the moment - a black pencil skirt and a white blouse - and it's proving near impossible. Pencil skirts have patterned panels, pleather detailing etc. I know they're trying to make it exciting and 'sexy' but sometimes it really is the classic look you need, and if you want to look respectable then a pencil skirt with a snake skin patterned panel is not going to work. Sometimes you just need something like a basic white t-shirt and you can't find one because all the 'basics' have detailing like puffed sleeves and cutesy bits of embroidery and buttons or pintucks on the neckline. I think Next are one of the worst offenders for over-embellishing. It's like they have a fear of a completely and utterly plain item of clothing.

Amen.

I have to buy "boyfriend fit" shorts just so I don't get arrested for indecent exposure.
River Island is another serious offender for over-embellishment. "Oh that's a nice top, oh wait no it's covered in sparkly gems and rhinestones".
Another thing is nice tops, and you turn them around and they have no back! Why would I want the world to see my bra strap, and why would the world want to see my bra strap?

Maybe because you are girl?
For guy it's simple and don't have to worry what we wear.
I'm not a huge fan of denim shorts that have the lining of the pockets visible out of the front.

Totally agreed
Still can't stand people wearing leggings as trousers. :unimpressed:

The worst trend at the moment is this kind of tiny shorts showing the cheeks as if it was something sexy

Horrible.

I like how guys call me gay when I say I don't like them. There's a place for them. They just don't leave much to the imagination.
Actually saw someone today wearing leggings (you could see the white label through them) with a cropped t-shirt

I've also seen someone wearing leopard print leggings with a black top tucked in :frown:

I hear a guy in Primark today telling his mate he was looking for leggings. Me and my mate just burst out laughing

Well go to marks and spencers or Uniqlo.. really it's not that hard to find basics. And who cares about embellishing.. it's better than having boring clothes.. I guess stores cater to different tastes..

Those girls who have their hair up and tied back with those buns in their hair but directly on the top of their head like a dollop, who also carry their handbags on their arm as if they have cerebral palsy. They're everywhere :frown:

****ing rude to people with that condition. you aren't hilarious.

And it's comfier to wear your bag liek that.

They were all trends. Why is wearing anything other than jeans presumed automatically uncomfortable. Most trends involve normal everyday clothes which have been worn by millions of people for many decades, generally just variations or adaptations of them.

Oh yes you're right everywhere one goes is in fact a succession of insipid casual occurrences and we'd better dress appropriately drab lest anyone deem us 'faggots'.

agreed.
I was in Primark yesterday buying some socks when I saw a girl, no older than 6, wearing a bralet and leggings.
I then overheard another girl, no older that 8 or 9 saying she wanted a "I Paul's Boutique" tattoo down her arm.

I weep for the future.

OHDEARGOD.

That reminds me of when I was in Morrisons once and there was a girl of about 3 years old with a T-shirt saying "Future WAG" on it :/

Marks and Sparks was one of the first ones I tried and there was nothing suitable in my size. And I don't live anywhere near a Uniqlo and there are no white shirts on their website that are suitable either. Completely plain clothes seem to be a rare find these days and I don't know about anyone else but I prefer the minimalist look. You might see it as boring, but I think it's really stylish.

One of my friends was in Primark recently. She heard an obese woman telling her friend "these leggings and [other tight fitting] clothes will be good for my curves."

:lolwut:

Which leads me onto another point: women who are clearly obese calling themselves curvy. Well I've got news for those people: you're not curvy, you are obese, end of.

Have never struggled to find plain/suitable clothes that keep me covered up enough and don't look too smutty/over dressed/boring/whatever... Where are you trying to shop?!
