Is tucking your shirt out ok in school?

Alot of boys in our school keep their shirt untuck but me and my friends are one of the good students so they don't untuck their shirts. But I want to untuck my shirt as I am comfortable plus it looks cool. But I am afraid to do it. What to do?

If this is a school that makes you wear uniforms, in all likelihood, no.

Untucking your shirt makes you look scruffy and unprofessional. In formal settings like schools and workplaces, they would tell you to tuck in your shirt, otherwise they would penalise you. If you did that at an interview, you won't likely be invited back.

The only appropriate times that I could think of are outside of formal settings e.g. out with friends, at home, on nights out (unless it's a really formal place with tuxedos in which case you would likely be wearing dresses), and possibly the theatre (if they're not too picky about appearances).

I can never understand why it makes people uncomfortable to tuck in their shirt. Does it itch or something? If it itches, check to see that your shirt is made of cotton. If it isn't made of cotton, get a cotton shirt so it doesn't itch.

If it's a formal shirt (like those for uniforms), it would look very scruffy. If it's a casual shirt, then it's one way of looking cool.

If in doubt, check with a teacher. They will tell you what's acceptable or not.
