surtis man, i swear, all my friends (fam is either from rajkot, baroda, or bhavnagar) are just like surtis don't speak gujarati. They have their own language XD

There are some similarities, but the differences are quite wide too.
Put it this way - if you went to some rural villages in Gujarat and spoke Hindi, they would think you're speaking a foreign language.

In terms of writing- the main difference is the line on top and certain letters are different.

I honestly didn't think the difference would be that big! I can pick out a handful of words here and there - I'm going to have to work on learning the language :smile:

Yeah - there are some similarities so a Gujju who has never understood Hindi would still recognize some words, but there are some big differences too like in grammar.

TBH though, I find Hindi easier to speak, understand, read and write even though Gujarati is my mother tongue :s-smilie:
