Need a geography gift idea

Hi all, my sister is currently in university studying Geography with Environmental Management. She is going on a field trip early next year to Iceland and I am looking to get her a Christmas present that would be useful for her.

As I didn't do Geography and know very little about field trips or the equipment used, I was hoping that someone would have a recommendation for a piece of equipment that they found really useful, or "I wish I had one of those when I was at uni" or anything like that, I would be very grateful.

I've always liked the idea of having some sort of watch-compass :P

But for Iceland, she really should have:
A very warm waterproof coat
Perhaps a very insulated hat with flaps over the ears
Thermals
Waterproof trousers

Perhaps a voucher to a store where she can buy these things?
