Hello!
Who else is going to be doing their foundation at Ravensbourne this year?

I just got my acceptance letter today, and thought it would be fab to hear from other people who are going to be on the course

Hey, I also got my acceptance letter then too!

Still deciding whether I want to go there or not. But I really like it, so there is a good chance I will! What puts me off a bit is the fact that they don't have their own halls :/ what are you planning to do for accomindation?

Hi! nice one, and I think I just saw your comment on the other thread, too

Accomodation is the issue for me too, but I just decided, oh well, something will work itself out, and I've accepted the offer! I love the place, the location, the building is amazing and all the equipment they've got- I knew when I went on the open day I'd just love to go there. Plus everyone was just so friendly! It felt like a little community!

I'm pretty sure there was something about accomodation days where you can go and find people to do a house share with nearer the time, but when you start looking online there's quite a lot of private-based halls for students to live in around the area too- they're pricey, but I guess then you know all your bills are included and stuff. At least there's plenty of time to sort out accomodation as we've found out so early.
So do you reckon you'll accept the offer? Where else have you applied to if not?

Yep aha I was in the other thread. I have pretty much decided that I am going to accept!! I am so excited Omg, the building was amazing! I loved it on the open day too, I was so surprised/happy when I got in! What pathway do you want to go into? I applied to CSM adn Loughborough as well, I haven't heard back from either yet. What about you?

woo! I know it is SO exciting to be sorting out what we'll be up to in september!
I'm doing art based textiles for a-level and I just loveeee it so I'm aiming for the fashion/textile pathway at the moment- what about yourself?

I did apply to Manchester Met, which was really lovely and the course looked really good- I got an interview, but I've decided not to go as I love Ravensbourne, its so much closer to home (plus, its LONDON!) and I've been ill for a while so I've got loads of school work to catch up on and don't have time to do the extra entry project they were asking for.
Do you reckon you'd go to CSM if you got a place in the end? I've heard some pretty mixed things about the foundation, but I guess its all about individual experience. Come to ravensbourne! ha, I'm just a bit biased now cos I've accepted

Oooh, that doesn't sound too good about the halls- I'm sure I read somewhere that the 'unite' ones were really expensive and people hadn't had such a great time there. But there was a post recommending the mcmillian student village- cheaper and in a safer area apparently. House sharing seems like a good option. But like you say- loads of time!

I can't remember the exact number they accept- I think it might have been like 200/250, but obviously split down into the different pathways.

i got an offer yesterday and think im going to apply but i didnt get a chance to go to the open day and wanted to know if you guys had seen the facilities, particularly the lens based media/photography ones.

im going to do a foundation if i don't get into glasgow school of art and can't decide between ravensbourne (which i love bc of the lbm pathway) and uca epsom which i like bc of how much more arty it is, most of my photography work is based in fine art.

yeah, it might have even been up to 270 people now that I think about it, but- yep, no where near as many as there are at csm! considering theres only 9 of us in my textiles class at the moment, it seems like a lot to me though

ha, mostly just us at the moment! I have no idea how competitive it is to get on, most probably a lot less than some of the other london ones with the really big names. But hey, its a foundation, so I guess its about just really enjoying it and making sure it'll get you to where you want to be next year

Hey, I've just applied to Ravensbourne, and was wondering how long it takes for them to get back to you with an interview date? also was wondering about the interview process? i'm a bit worried about the interview, because i haven't done one yet, as the only other uni i have applied for is CSM, and that course didn't have an interview just a portfolio review? any advice would be much appreciated! Did you have a range of Medias in your portfolio/how much was in your portfolio? how long did it take for them to get back to you after your interview saying that you had got in?

Heyy, it took them a couple of weeks to get back to me for an interview, but it will probably be even less now as the major bulk of applications are over. It was my first interview too! But you really shouldn't worry, it was really relaxed and casual! My interviewer didn't ask about my work really, mainly questions about where I see myself in a couple of years, what Ravensboune could offer me and that kind of thing. There is also a student there who is on the foundation course who you are left with (while he is making notes or something haha) to ask questions so come up with a few before hand or something
I had about 20 something sheets and two skectchbooks of independant sketches/illustrations. Umm, I tried to mixed medias up a bit! I do fine Art, so I used a lot of different materials and a bit of photoshop editing on images but apart from that it was mainly paint. I was really surprised I got in actually, because its a design school, so they don't offer fine art as a pathway. So if you want to do that, don't go there haha!

I found out I had a place less than a week after and I think that is the same for others who applied, so you will probs hear back soon after!
I have applied to CSM aswell, the wait to find out is driving me crazzyy!! haha

Can anyone reassure me this isnt the case?? Also how do the pathways work because I applied to go straight into the fashion design BA(hons) degree without a foundation and at the interview they said they would offer me a place to do the foundation first cause ive got great potential but i need a years extra experience! so they explained there was a separate pathway just for fashion which sounds perfect! Do you go straight into the pathways when you start?

Ravensbourne is definitely very focused on technology but if you're doing fashion I don't think it's a problem. For the first few weeks you switch pathways and try out everything they specialise in afterwards you get to chose which pathway you want to take for the rest of the year, I think this stage is around 6-8 weeks.
